Editing

Editing is the Towne Films specialty. Whether you need help getting an assembly cut, a rough cut, a fine cut, picture lock, or the whole works through the finished product, Towne Films has plans and pricing options for you. Towne Films can also handle everything from short films, feature films, movie trailers, and music videos. Please note Towne Films does not do contracts for weddings or other similar family video projects.

As of 2022, all projects now use DaVinci Resolve for editing. Projects can be exported fr continued work in other systems including Adobe Premiere and Final Cut.

Basic VFX

Towne Films can also handle basic VFX shots in your footage. We can add this as an extra price in your editing package, or we can do VFX shots separately if you already have another editor on the project.

VFX shots are subject to their complexity and require a consultation before approval of the gig. Basic VFX includes items such as muzzle flashes on guns, object removal in the background, and some compositing such as screen or sign replacements depending on the complexity of the shot. For more complicated VFX, we recommend hiring dedicated VFX houses such as our friends at Vault Studios who also offer the New Mexico tax rebate.

Basic Sound Design

Audio is half of your movie, and nobody is going to take your film seriously if it sounds like a high school project - no matter how fancy your camera was or how impressive your footage is. With Towne Films at your back, we will make sure your project won't be grinding people's ears at the film festival. Towne Films has accumulated a vast variety of sound effects to make your project sound legit, whether the genre is horror, action, fantasy, or sci-fi.

We can work on sound design as part of an editing package, or on its own if you already have an edit. However, it is important the film reaches picture lock before we begin. ADR may also be required depending on the quality of your sound.

This gig is aimed at the bare bones indie filmmaker on a shoe-string budget who needs a decent stereo mix, but can't afford major surgery or the in-depth sound design you would get from a dedicated sound-design professional. However, for more advanced projects and filmmakers who plan on hiring a dedicated sound-design professional (Synthetic Films is highly recommended), we can also make their job easier for them by adding some basic layers of sound design and effects to get them started.
